Is "The Lady Confesses" (1945) public domain? It's available from Alpha Video.

Can we assume that all Alpha Video titles are PD?

The filme was registered:

Inc., c!945. 7 reels, sd.
Credits: Producer, Alfred Stern; director,
Sam Newfield; original story, Irwin R.
Franklyn; screenplay, Helen Martin; music
director. Lee Zahler; film editor, Holbrook
P. R. C. Pictures, Inc.; 16May45;

but never renewed. So it is PD.

You can assume that most US films from before 1964 released by Alpha are PD. Like any PD distributor be weary of 1964-1977 material and very skeptical of 1978-1989 material and foreign films made after the early 40s. There are no PD films released after March 1989. Like many other "PD"/budget distributors, Alpha also carries licensed DVDs of independant producers' works. So it is best to thoroughly check.

Thanks a lot. I'll upload this.
I have some other old Alpha titles that I'll work on.
